J006911 KR Winner UDIA NSW Award News 1920x1080 Final 1

The showpiece retirement village of not-for-profit Vasey Communities, Kokoda Residences at Waitara, has capped off its own stunning chapter in innovative retirement development, winning a key category in the Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW Coronation Awards for Excellence in Urban Development for 2023.

In a tightly fought contest, Kokoda Residences’ 11-storey, vertical village apartment community has been awarded for Excellence in Retirement Living.

Opening in mid 2022, featuring a comprehensive suite of community spaces and amenities including lounge and bar, onsite café, alfresco terrace gardens, gym, cinema and hair salon, Kokoda Residences’ journey – from its launch the very week the pandemic took hold – has been a remarkable one.

Vasey CEO, Graham Hooper, has led the Kokoda Residences project and the village’s team from the very start, surviving unprecedented restrictions and lockdowns, with this Award for Excellence in Retirement Living completing the journey, triumphantly.

“This incredible award comes as a tremendous acknowledgement for the tireless planning, vision and belief that’s also gone into Kokoda Residences,” Mr Hooper enthused.

“Not only has our community of new residents flourished and grown throughout the past year, our completed and living village is on the verge of selling its last apartment sanctuaries.”

“To have this additional seal of approval is a boost for Vasey and motivation, long-felt by our organisation moving into the future.”

Kokoda Residences is located in the heart of Waitara, close to Waitara Station and Hornsby Westfield, overlooking Mark Taylor Oval.
